I had my internal Hdd go bad , my tech guy swapped the hdd for a new one , did a couple off stuff on his pc and run the latest os update with a flash, and voala. The new hdd is readable. The only issue now is my console dosent have the xbox start up. Did you have any issues later on with your new hdd? Did it actualize with Microsoft updates with no problem? No issues with game pass or live gold? I have gold on 3 different systems, only one set as home, and have repaired two of those 3 systems myself without any issues from Microsoft.
